About The Game

Escaping the oil industry is easier when you are made of oil. Crude Oil is an open world puzzle adventure from Elfsend, which develops and publishes the game, and it casts you as a blob of the stuff planning a getaway from the very industry that produced you. Few protagonists have this little surface area. The premise writes its own jokes; the physics engine delivers them.

Movement is the whole vocabulary. You splat off walls, bowl through stacks of barrels, and skate across puddles as an elastic blob, pulling off moves that feel like platforming classics until your formlessness rewrites the rules. The comedy is physical, and the physics are the comedian. When a maneuver needs precision, time slows down, whether to land the trick or simply to enjoy the acrobatics. Every surface is a suggestion.

Size is a tool. Collecting and launching oil droplets grows you into a formidable glob, or you shrink to a modest slick when the route demands modesty. Hats add short term power ups on top, each one changing what the next stretch of the world allows. The right blob for the moment is a decision, not a default.

The getaway has industrial equipment. You drive a forklift to lift and stack heavy obstacles, turning the industry's own hardware into escape infrastructure, and you mix it up with rude robots who take your departure personally. Machinery makes strange allies and stranger enemies. The world treats you as inventory, and the entire game is about correcting that assumption.

The tone never stiffens its upper lip. Nothing here takes itself seriously, and the sandbox keeps finding new ways to make freedom look absurd. It is a breakout story in every sense. Crude Oil is an adventure for players who like puzzles bouncy, heroes formless, and getaway vehicles rated for warehouse duty.
